MHSPLA HALL OF FAME

 

Criteria for Nominations

Use the Google Form to nominate somebody for consideration. Nominees will fall into one of three categories. Former MHSPLA lifters, current or former MHSPLA coaches, and current or former MHSPLA contributors are eligible for selection into the Michigan High School Powerlifting Association Hall of Fame.

 

There are several things to consider when nominating somebody for consideration. Please read over the criteria for each category before filling out the Google Form for Nomination.

 

Selection Process

A Selection Committee consisting of 3 Board Members, 1 Active Coach, and 1 Retired Coach will evaluate all nominations. A rubric will be used to determine which nominees have the necessary requirements to be placed on the list. Nominees with the most points based on their accolades will be included on the Top 10 list.

 

The Top 10 list will be presented to the active MHSPLA Board of Directors. The BOD will select 3–5 nominees for selection into the MHSPLA Hall of Fame. Those on the Top 10 list not selected will remain on the list for the following year’s consideration.

 

Nomination Categories

Areas to consider and include with nomination.

 

1. Lifters (Student-Athletes)

• Must be five (5) years or more removed from competing in the MHSPLA. Graduates of 2021 or before are eligible for the first induction class.

• Exemplary sportsmanship during their high school career and a continued positive standing in the athletic community.

• Demonstrated elite-level performance at the Varsity level while in the MHSPLA. Also, did they compete in the sport post high school:

•     – State Champ or Runner-Up

•     – All-State recognition (Top 10 medalist)

•     – State Record Holder (Past or Present)

•     – Competed collegiately post high school

•     – Competed internationally during or after high school

 

2. Coaches (Active or Retired)

• Minimum of ten (10) years of active coaching within the MHSPLA.

• Active mentorship of student-athletes and positive contribution to the coaching community.

• Coached teams that were successful at the State level (Top 3 finish).

• Coached individual State Champs.

• Hosted Regional or State Meets.

• Served on the MHSPLA Board of Directors in some capacity.

 

3. Contributors (Assistant Coaches, Judges, Service to MHSPLA for Events)

• Fifteen (15) years of service to the MHSPLA

• MHSPLA Board of Directors service

• State Meet Host

• Regional Meet Host

• State Meet Judge

• Significant contribution to the MHSPLA

• Person of influence in the early days of MHSPLA
